WE LOST OUR 8 MONTH KITTEN DUE TO NEGLIGENCE AND MISGUIDANCE BY HUMBERWOOD SPAY NEUTER CLINIC. Our kitten Luna passed away after being spayed at this clinic by Dr. Sandhu. Not only is this clinic unprofessional, they lack the knowledge and empathy to properly examine pets both before and after surgery. They treat the spay surgery as factory work. We brought our Persian kitten Luna to Humberwood to be spayed and were already concerned with the fact that we did not meet the doctor prior to surgery and were not informed of the NECESSARY add-ons to surgery that our cat required for a full recovery due to her breed (IV Fluids, Blood Pressure monitoring). Dr. Sandhu performed the surgery without determining an existing heart condition in our cat. He failed to detect this due to not performing simple pre-op due diligence and neglecting to inform us of surgical and anaesthetic risks (claims he later denied in falsified surgery documents). After our cat became very lethargic and barely ate or drank for 2 days, we called the clinic with concern if we should bring her in. They mentioned it was fine to monitor her for another day and if nothing changed to bring her for examination. The following day we brought Luna to the clinic as she became very weak, only to be offered a rushed 10 minute examination of her symptoms without determining the cause of her condition (no blood test, urine test, IV offered etc.). Dr. Sandhu simply told us to go home and force feed our cat with a syringe so she would get some nutrients. Unfortunately this resulted in our already weak cat rejecting the food and getting food into her lungs. After hours at the emergency clinic with Luna fighting for her life, she passed away due to heart failure after surgery and lung complications. Please do not take your pet here and don't be fooled by the low price- this is a base price not including any additional services that should be mandatory for such an invasive surgery. Luna deserved proper care, education and empathy before, during and after surgery and was rather met with unqualified staff and unnecessary risks that could have been avoided. We would never have agreed to having this spay procedure done had we been properly informed of the risks of surgery with her heart condition. We have filed a complaint against this clinic with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario.
