The Wiarton Echo has been serving Wiarton and area since 1879. With offices based in downtown Wiarton, it reports on events throughout the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, which also includes Sauble Beach and other smaller communities, and the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, which includes Lion’s Head, Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula national parks. It also covers the First Nations communities of Neyaashiinigmiing (Cape Croker) and Saugeen First Nation. The Bruce Peninsula is a core area of a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, which has attracted increasing number of tourists in recent years. The Echo enjoys strong community support and involvement in coverage of the communities it serves.
