Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Hamilton - West End

If you are looking for a warm and fuzzy place....a staff that focuses on your child's education...what the parents expect from a learning centre for their child...and really cares about being connected to their families and updates them on the progress of their children, then this isn't the place. I should have left this Kumon learning centre when after a couple of weeks I noticed a serious breakdown in communication between the owner Nicole Smith and her staff on the smallest things. They are so focused nonsenscial things that they really miss out on connecting with families about the progress of the children. The staff is really young...and quite frankly inexperienced. The Kumon learning centre owner Nicole Smith is very often absent from the Kumon learning centre. When I inquired, I am told she is away travelling for meetings. The owner Nicole Smith does not have interpersonal skills and when I confronted her about an issue I had, she became confrontational and defensive...instead of listening and trying to resolve the issue...in a customer friendly way. The experience was unpleasant and Nicole Smith has extremely bad breath. The joke of it all...Nicole Smith actually think parents like it there! So many parents dislike it....the only reason parents put up with an incompetent director and owner Nicole Smith is because of the proximity of the Kumon learning centre in the area. Stay as far away as possible!!!! The owner and the Kumon company just cares about making money and less about their reputation.

Our daughter went to the Kumon Math & Reading Westend Hamilton center located at 318 Dundurn St South Hamilton for a year. Everything went OK until we had an altercation with the owner Nicole Smith. She implied our daughter was delayed, weak and was constantly compared to her peers. She expected our daughter to stay an repeat several sets of worksheets over and over. The Instructor Nicole Smith is just plain mean to parents and children alike. She's also very confrontational, unprofessional and disrespectful. I wish someone could video tape what goes on in this centre and share it? After talking to our pediatrician we knew this was not a bad environment for our daughter and left the centre for good. Please think twice before you let your child study in this place.

Wow, so my husband and I viewed the Kumon of Hamilton Westend centre a few months back, led by the director Nicole Smith, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough! The "staff" never once smiled, they barely interacted with children in the class and looked like they were not happy to be there. Of all the things that rubbed my husband and I the wrong way, here are a few: 1. They said the children usually take about 20 minutes to do their worksheets. I clocked it...there was a child sitting for over 46 minutes and counting without ANYONE speaking to him. No checked on him. He was totally ignored. 2. We saw the staff and no one smiled, they didn't even say hello to our son and they didn't interact with other children in a loving way. It was really so sad. It made me wonder what they are like when they are not impressing potential new parents. 3. There was a 3rd grade child he was struggling with his worksheets and crying, and the director never cared. He was very unhappy. The Director just walked by him, ignoring him, no sense of urgency whatsoever. We were shocked beyond belief. Clearly, Nicole Smith, the director, thought this probably didn't look so good so she walked over and acted like she was there to help him. I mean seriously!? You guys couldn't be bothered all along?? Beyond shocking. This was the point when we decided to leave. I could go on and on but seriously all I can say is please do not take your children to Kumon of Hamilton Westend, PLEASE!!!

Where do I start? This Kumon centre is in a slum!! The area is unsafe for children. The staff isn't helpful to children. The bathroom stinks and is dirty. The heating is way off and kids are always cold in winter. The Kumon teacher is rarely at the centre and junior staff are clueless. If you get the rare opportunity of meeting the Kumon teacher you will be met with a rude and sarcastic individual who should be kept away from kids. This place is one to avoid at all costs.

I'm an educator and our children used to go to this Kumon center have to wholeheartedly say that Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Hamilton - West End is as bad as they get. There is no education happening at the Kumon center here just a mill giving out worksheets with teacher assistants clueless. The instructor acts like she has a chip on her shoulder but in reality is as dense as a rock.
