The Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy is the largest Ontario-focused land conservation agency dedicated to preserving Ontario shorelines & wetlands that house 62 of Ontario's native species at risk. Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy protects land throughout Simcoe, Grey and Bruce Counties, along the Niagara Escarpment all the way up the Bruce Peninsula onto Manitoulin Island, and along the Lake Huron shoreline. Approximately 55 of these protected conservation areas are privately owned. The rest are owned by us and treated as Nature Reserves. Most of these areas are publicly accessible, though some do not have trails, the public is encouraged to visit! Other areas are ecologically sensitive due to the species that occur on them or due to the fragility of a given ecosystem. For this purpose, we try to limit the amount of human disturbance that occurs on these sites.
